One of the worst things humans can do to wildlife is attempt to "rescue" it.  Unfortunately, we do more damage by trying to save the animal when in reality mom is just around the corner.  For baby rabbits, the female rabbit visits the next twice a day for five minutes to feed them.  This is her attempt to keep them safe.  Therefore, it's important to return the animal to the nest if at all possible.  If not, a licensed animal rehabilitation center can take the animal in order to get it ready for release.
